Paper II of the UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination, commonly known as the Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT), is qualifying in nature.

- Comprehension.
- Interpersonal skills including communication skills.
- Logical reasoning and analytical ability.
- Decision making and problem solving.
- General mental ability.
- Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude, etc.) (Class X level).
- Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency, etc.) (Class X level).
Important Notes
- Paper II (CSAT) is a qualifying paper.
- Candidates must secure a minimum of 33% marks to qualify.
- Questions are of multiple-choice (objective) type.
- It is mandatory to appear in both Paper I and Paper II. Failure to appear in either paper will result in disqualification from the Preliminary Examination.
