QUESTION PAPER INSTRUCTIONS
Please read each of the following instructions carefully before attempting questions.
- There are TWENTY questions printed in ENGLISH.
- All questions are compulsory.
- The number of marks carried by a question/part is indicated against it.
- Answers to Question Nos. 1 to 10 should be in 150 words, whereas answers to Question Nos. 11 to 20 should be in 250 words.
- Keep the word limit indicated in the questions in mind.
- Any page or portion of the page left blank in the Question-cum-Answer Booklet must be clearly struck off.

Questions 1–10
Answer each question in 150 words. Each question carries 10 marks.

Highlight the underlying geographical factors that influence the distribution of India’s population.

Questions 11–20
Answer each question in 250 words. Each question carries 15 marks.
Illustrate with suitable examples how syncretism became a part of Indian architecture during the medieval period.
Give a critical account of the economic impact of partition of India on Assam.
Natural resource rich belts in India are not always the one with the highest levels of economic development. Explain.
What are extreme precipitation events and what are their effects? Why are such events occurring more frequently in recent times?
Do you agree with the view that the interlinking of rivers can address the water issues in India? Give reasons for your answer.
Examine the challenges faced by the bell-metal industry in Assam. What measures do you suggest to make it a vibrant economic sector?
