UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination – CSAT (Paper II)

Paper II of the UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination, commonly known as the Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT), is qualifying in nature.

Official Syllabus

  • Comprehension.
  • Interpersonal skills including communication skills.
  • Logical reasoning and analytical ability.
  • Decision making and problem solving.
  • General mental ability.
  • Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude, etc.) (Class X level).
  • Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency, etc.) (Class X level).

Important Notes

  • Paper II (CSAT) is a qualifying paper.
  • Candidates must secure a minimum of 33% marks to qualify.
  • Questions are of multiple-choice (objective) type.
  • It is mandatory to appear in both Paper I and Paper II. Failure to appear in either paper will result in disqualification from the Preliminary Examination.
